I don't feel like I have much to say this time, as nothing much has been happening in my life. I can't necessarily be unhappy at this as my friends' lives have been much more turmoil-filled recently. Recognize, I send much love to my peeps.
Oh, yeah, laying in bed trying to write is not very productive. Falling asleep. Must postpone to more alert time.
*The next morning*
Ok, I have really no idea where I was going with this post. I think introspective is not really my thing.
I hate the fact that when I'm half awake in the morning I have what seem to be good ideas that I can never remember later.
Random musing: Who has heard the New Order song "Krafty"? Do you think it sounds like Smashing Pumpkins? Like exactly like it could have come off of Melancholie...? Maybe it's just me. Now, back to regularly unscheduled rantings.
I apologize for the randomness of this post, I am distracted by various work things and non-work things and somehow the radio keeps becoming a strong presense in my consciousness today, as opposed to it's more normal background-y-ness.
That reminds me, I should practice my guitar more. And I should listen to my new CDs more. Of course the other night when I was trying to listen to stuff on iTunes, I was having a problem with Airport Express and AirTunes and I was going insane trying to figure out the problems. But now my G4 has the upgrade in it, and it's much faster, so maybe that will help with some of my problems. Also, I think I read that 2.4Ghz cordless phones mess up the WiFi signal, hopefully my neighbors stay off their phones.
I don't understand what the big deal is about Bright Eyes. I mean it's ok music, but why the stupid fanboyishness (-ness is the new -ly) that surrounds that kid? Stupid hipsters. "If it's really horrible and nobody likes it, than it must be cool." I think I'm kind of in that mindset, where if something becomes popular I'm no longer interested in it. Though sometimes I like stuff far beyond when it was cool. And even in spite of it not being cool. Although I've always been on the "Creed Sucks" bandwagon. I knew they would suck from the first moment I heard them. And that is one thing I've stayed true to.
Must remember to buy Spacehog.
Ok, I guess I should wrap this up. It's gone on maybe too long and rambly and re-taaah-ded.
Stupid song getting stuck in my head...
"Where do all the porn stars go, when the lights go down? I wonder where all the porn stars go? 'Cause when you need one, they are never around."

Blowed Out
So, Austin and I have gone to 2 nights of the Hamtramck Blowout. Wednesday night was cool, and they still had the all access wristbands for $10. I ran into Kelly (Tess's friend) and also Bobby from the Tap Room. He asked, "No Tap Room tonight?" and I told that we were checking out all the Blowout stuff instead.
The Expatriates played first on Wednesday, they rocked.I really want to check them out again sometime. Tiny Steps was also really good. I was not much of a fan of Lee Marvin Computer Arm. I think they sound like the Hives, but crappier and with a trumpet. And of course Thunderbirds Are Now kicked ass, with even a Cobain-style dive into the drums at the end by Ryan Allen, the lead guitarist.
Last night Austin and I went to see Catalog only. They were playing at this little bar called Shenanigans and we went for them and stay to see Proxi, which featured a female singer, and I thought little else to recomend them. Maybe the sound was bad in there, but I just wasn't digging them. We left after their set, because the next couple bands seemed much more hardcore, and I was getting tired and such.

Lost is awesome
I am going to play these numbers the next time I buy lotto tickets. Actually the last number is one I play anyways.

P.S. There's really no point to this post other that recording these numbers.

I hate Detroit roads
Once again, fate has found a way to fuck me. Ok, well maybe not fuck, but at least give me a wet-willy. I was driving to lunch and got stuck behind a salt/plow truck getting on the freeway. I was about to pass him, when the guy behind me pulled into the passing lane preventing me from getting out from behind the truck. I then heard a loud crack, as a stone hit my windshield. I looked around and saw the thumbprint size spider of cracks on the windshield near the bottom of the glass. I was freakin' pissed off. This likely will mean I will have to deal with the insurance company again. If you are aware of what I went through the last time I had to deal with them, you will understand my reluctance to bring them into this matter. Fuckers. Damn road non-repairing fuckers. Damn Michigan freeze-thaw cycles causing excessive road erosion. Damn ass-monkeys cutting me off from passing fucking slow-ass stone-throwing salt trucks. Dammit.
-The Peeved
Update: 6:45pm
The crack spread the whole fucking way across the windshield. I hate this weather.

Holy Awards Show Batman!
So, I ended watching the Oscars over at Tess's with a bunch of her friends, and Coronado and Fisher showed up eventually. I will now give you my unscientific Oscar "Thumbs Up" and "Thumbs Down" in no particular order.
"Thumbs Up"
Chris Rock questioning Cuba Gooding's role choices I had to agree as I had wondered about this too, but I think it has more to do with the fact that Cuba sold his soul to the Devil (Oprah) in order to win the Oscar for Jerry Macguire
Jamie Foxx's acceptance speech Good, heartstrings tugged
Kate Winslet Hot. Good light on the red carpet especially
Emmy Rossum Super hot! (Hot 16 year-old chick from Phantom)
Oscars ending before midnight Finally...
Hilary Swank telling them to stop trying to get her off the stage during her acceptance speech
"Thumbs Down"
Beyonce singing Oscar nominated song
Scarlet Johannsen's hair Who let her out of the house like that!?!?
Beyonce singing that other Oscar nominated song
Mostly unintelligable pairing of Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz Both looked hot though.
Beyonce singing again
The Academy not recognizing "Lowell's" fine work in Sideways He was robbed. Not!
Martin Scorsese not winning for Best Director He'll win it someday, but I won't root for any movie of his involving Leonardo DiCraprio
Adam Duritz's hairAs my co-worker commented, "Did he go to Sideshow Bob's barber?"
Beyonce

Big Buck = Bad Idea
Yesterday was my co-worker's last day, so after work we went to Big Buck Brewery, which is just a little ways away. I meant to only stay for a beer or two, but you get one of the 23 ouncers in you and you're not going anywhere for a while. This co-worker is getting married in August and he was the organizer for a bachelor party for another co-worker that I went to last spring. Thus the subject of his bachelor party came up, and at that point that was when Vegas was bandied about as the location for said event. I am so up for that. Vegas, baby! Nothing could be finer, than strippers, gambling and booze galore. I hope this happens, because I was thinking of making a trip to Vegas anyways, I had thought of going with Austin for his cousin's bachelor party, but I'm too late to book a hotel or a flight which anywhere I looked was an outrageous amount of money. But, I'm definately looking forward to going to Vegas for Brad's party. It should be awesome.

This is why winter sucks
So, I'm in sort of a contemplative mood tonight as I watch Alias.
*Next morning*
Well, the whole writing a post thing last night became kind of a bust as television sucked me in, and then I had to help Austin get his cousin's table back to normal size.
So, anyway about the contemplativeness... I seems like this winter has been very depressing for most of my friends, and to a lesser extent me. I feel like I've been kind of being a hermit (hermitting?) and just staying at home. Maybe it's the weather, but I just haven't felt like leaving the house alot of nights and weekends. That and the weird weekend sleep patterns I've been in, I don't know, I usually am pretty, well if not cheery, at least not depressed or depressed-like, but lately, with the deaths and the cancer and the not having of sex, I am definately in a low spot. Not so obviously low as some other people I know can get, but for me, this is a general crapiness that's not normally present.
Partly I think some of can be attributed to the fact that, for the first time really ever, I'm living by myself. I don't know if I can say it's been a difficult adjustment, but there are times when I do wish that someone was around.
Hopefully with the warming weather sure to be on it's way, my heart and soul will warm too.

Get your freak on... Part Deux
I forgot to mention that on Monday I ended up going to see the Dirty Show with Coronado. We carpooled, and it was on the way there that I hit one of the potholes I thought would have flatted my tire. But back to the kink.
Some of the artwork was really amazing. I wish that I had enough money to buy some of the pieces. Although, I don't know how well they'd fit in with the rest of my shabby (not) chic decor.
I was annoyed by the girl walking around in silver fringy box who'd flash you through a hole on the box for a buck. Dammit, if I want to see boobs, I'd go see boobs, and really see them.
The performances were for the most part just ok. Some of it just looked like "a typical night at City Club" as Tess, Chris and Jamie all pointed out separately. But CASP was really cool. Sexier than "Showgirls." Actually anything this side of Roseanne Barr in a bikini is sexier than "Showgirls" but, I just like mentioning "Showgirls."

Smallville Rant
Last week's Smallville was super gay, especially with Chris "I was on the O.C." Carmack in it, and the obvious Clark man-crush on him. But this week's was just lame. Who is the producer or script supervisor or whatever that keeps allowing such lousy story ideas to come to fruition. A kryptonite-powered "SuperDog"? Lame. This week was just filler. Nothing happened that moved the season's story arc forward, and I might as well have missed the episode completely. At least Jane Seymour was less over-the-top this episode.
And next week's episode looks ridiculous, what with the Crouching Clark, Hidden Lana action. Where do Clark and Lana get the money to fly to China to chase Lex and Jason? Don't they know that getting a visa to visit China is also a pain in the ass? Why am I so annoyed by this show, but yet can't stop watching it?
Also, check out this recap of last week's episode. TWoP's Gayest Look of the Episode.

My heart is a wheel, let me roll it to you
OK, this is not in anyway related to love, I just thought of that line, and decided to use it.
[RANT]
Why is it that the roads in Detroit suck so bad? In the last 2 days I thought I'd bent my rim twice on potholes. I think Detroit is the only place in the country where the traffic report specifically mentions potholes. The other day I even heard that there were cops dispatched to direct people around one. I remember hearing that there was a line of cars with blown-out tires past a particular one one time also. The roads seem a lot worse this year than I remember. All the freezing and thawing of this goofy-ass winter has just accelerated their deterioration. There's little stones and gravel and rocks and crap getting thrown by tires and potentially chipping windshields. On the radio this morning they said that four hundred-something million dollars was being given to Detroit by the state to repair roads, but that it was for only 30 miles of roadway. What?!?! That money is also for bridge repair, but come on, only 30 miles worth of road repair? No wonder everybody in this stupid city drives an SUV, otherwise they'd have more flats than a bicyclist in a broken glass factory. So, my advice is stay out of this city. Move somewhere warm. Move somewhere else, because Detroit is also supposedly one of the worst places to try to date in. Arghh. I think the pavement fairy is running late.

Get your freak on...
So, I had a pretty interesting weekend. Jessica's party was fun, at least for those that were able to make it. I know I had fun, especially playing "throw the candy heart in Jessica's cleavage."
Saturday turned to be more interesting though. I didn't have anything planned for Saturday night, but I had to go to my parent's house to feed the dogs. While there, I called Tess to see what she was up to. She said she was going to the "Dirty Show," which was a display of erotic art and also there were some performances. I had heard about it and it sounded interesting so I met up with her for dinner and then Chris called and was wondering what was up, so he ended up coming along also.
We also had to pick up Tess's friend Kelly in Dearborn, so we didn't end up getting to the place where the show was until close to midnight. That was partially to do with our not knowing where it was and also geting lost in the maze of downtown Detroit. Well, when we got there the line was down the block. It was cold and we decided that instead of waiting in line to see a bunch of freaks in art, see the freaks in person at the City Club.
Chris and I had never been, so we thought what the hell, let's check it out. Now, Tess and Kelly had dressed for the Dirty Show, which is also appropriate attire for the City Club, whereas Chris was "College Boy" and I was "Early 90's Grunge," so I felt a little, um, over-dressed. Especially considering the numerous guys and girls without shirts. Chris thought that the City Club was very much his scene. I told him he should wear the black electrical tape over his nipple next time for his oufit. He said he would also wear a piece on his dick. I said that would be a tiny piece. Oh, snap! He said it would be bigger than mine. I had nothing to say about it. I had fun and danced a bit and had a lot of fun people-watching. We left City Club about 3.
After City Club we went to Lafayette Coney for some food and then once again drove wandering around downtown trying to find Campus Martius. We did find it eventually and saw the ice rink.
After that we had to drop Kelly off and back to Tess's and then to home. As each leg of this Journey (Don't Stop Believin') took about 30 minutes I didn't get home until 5 something. I was tired.
This explains why I didn't wake up until it was dark again. Yes, I slept in until 7 in the evening. Awesome.

Nerd Alert!
Thursday, Austin, Dana, John Machiorlatti and I played Magic: The Gathering over at his cousin's place. It was pretty fun, although sometimes Machiorlatti gets too much into macho posturing for playing a total nerd game. I was never really good at deck building, although my deck that was just thrown together from my Portal cards. worked decently. Maybe I'll do some work to tune it. Maybe I'll buy some new cards. Damn! Must resist... cannot get sucked in again... so addictive...

Why Holly Herold should never be allowed to write for Smallville again
[Rant]
Last night Dan and I watch one of the worst episodes of Smallville I've ever seen. It was horrible. I hope the writer comes across this post so she can know that she sucks. I also lay blame partially on the director, but when given what there was to work with, I don't know that there was much to be done. The dialogue was bad, things were never explained, loose ends were not tied up, and Jane Seymour looked like she was trying to "ho" herself out to Lex. Hello! Just because Veronica Mars sang karaoke, does not mean that Chloe has to. And why was Lois randomly in town? It was a giant egg McGuffin! (Those of you Hitchcock fans know what I'm talking about.)
The biggest disappointment was the fact that they killed off Alicia, one of the most interesting characters to be on the show in a while. For Christ sake, at least it let Clark not moon after Lana for a week or two. And I don't understand the subplot involving Lana's boyfriend and his mom. Let it go. We care less about Lana this season than ever before.
Argh. It just pisses me off that one week we have a good episode and the next it's horrible again. The WB, please, please, make Joss Whedon or J. J. Abrams take over Smallville for the remainder of the show's run. Please. Then at least there would be something of consequence to it.

I am Mike's raging bile duct
I received my IKEA catalog in the mail yesterday. I am filled with consumer lust for inexpensive Swedish modular furniture. It made me think of Fight Club.
Narrator: I flipped through catalogs and wondered: "What kind of dining set defines me as a person?"
