Ok, this totally threw me off. I was watching TV and a commercial for King Kong came on. And the music? Coldplay. WTF? That does not compute. Error. Danger Will Robinson! It's totally incongrous.
Coldplay has totally sold out, although that happened after the first album. Blech. Darnit if they don't write catchy tunes though.

Interestingly I've heard that "King Kong" may be one of the highest grossing movies ever and will win Oscars and such. I'm not convinced. I haven't seen anything about it that looks really good. And could you imagine Jack Black winning a Best Actor award?
I don't think wanting to make money is selling out per se. I think you're selling out if you're making money off of something you're inclined against, or used to be inclined against before you made it big. Additionally, i think it is selling out if you name your daughter "Apple" just to ge free i-pods.
